Disappointed with Jason Wu for Target

I had patiently been awaiting for the release of Jason Wu for Target and decided to set the alarm early to try and score some items online. But I reckon since the chaos with Missoni for Target (which I could care less about), everyone has been on crazy hunting mode as the items I wanted were all sold out when I logged on online at 5:35am EST on Sunday morning of the release. Boo!

Out of the four items that I wanted, I was only able to purchase the black pleated skirt courtesy of a super kind colleague who was able to nabbed one for me as she went to the store early in the AM to find some Jason Wu pieces for herself.

The skirt actually fits true to size and it's flattering on my boyish figure. I think it's a classic staple piece and I see myself wearing it a lot. For $29.99, I think it is a decent price and it is well-made as the skirt is actually lined with a pretty thick lining.

However, I am disappointed that above all, the piece that I REALLY wanted was nowhere to be found. The navy poplin dress was a complete sell out and it seems that the smaller sizes were rare like gems! As a fan of dresses in the 50's era, I like this dress as it fits the bill nicely with the swing skirt and the pleats as well as striped hem appeals to my classic style. Alas, I can only dream of this dress as I absolutely refuse to pay the atrocious prices for the dress on eBay and hiking to a Target store is a great hassle. Oh well, I guess I will just have to live vicariously through those who were able to score one!

Were you able to score any Jason Wu items?

Jason Wu for Target

I have not cared too much about any of the recent high-low collaborations be it Target or H&M but this one definitely has my attention! The collaboration which was inspired by the idea of an American girl in Paris is just oh-so-chic to me. The stripes, the bold colors, and the classic silhouettes just tugs at my fashion heartstrings. Heh. In fact, I think it reminds me of Blair Waldorf, come to think of it!

While I am currently on a shopping ban after the purchase of the ZARA flats, I think I may break my ban with an item or two from this collaboration that ranges from $19.99 to $59.99.

Some of the key pieces that spoke to me...

The collaboration will hit stores on Sunday February 5 and for the full lookbook, click here.

Item for Sale

With all the holiday shopping, it's that time of the year to clean the closet and purge items that I no longer use! I have decided to sell the Mansfield red satin clutch from the Fall 2007 Hollywould for Target collaboration. I bought this clutch thinking that it would be a nice pop of color and would work great for errands. Alas, this pretty clutch has yet to see daylight, so it's time for it to go to another home!

I have listed the item for sale here and will have more items for sale soon!

Rodarte for Target available in Target Pop-up Store!

Dec. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Target Corp., the retailer expanding in U.S. cities, opened so-called pop-up stores in three urban centers to generate holiday-season sales and publicity.

The second-biggest U.S. discount chain is running Target To-Gos in New York, San Francisco and Washington today through Dec. 13. The temporary stores offer 50 products, including 99- cent Christmas tree ornaments, Sony Corp.’s PSP Go handheld video-game player for $249.99 and pieces from Target’s Rodarte fashion line that won’t be available nationwide until Dec. 20.

The following two dresses will be available in the pop-up store so I'm eager to pick them up this weekend!

Anna Sui for Target in Stores and Online

The much anticipated Anna Sui for Target collection which is inspired by the Gossip Girl TV show is finally in stores and online. I blogged about it previously here and here.

Among some of the items that caught my eyes are...

Can you tell I am a little obsessed with ruffles? Heh. I however did not purchase anything and do not intend to as I am still reeling in from my splurge on Chanel. Did you get anything from the collection? If yes, please share what you picked up!

Update on Anna Sui for Target collaboration

Apparently, a lot has been made about the controversial CW show Gossip Girl so it was odd to begin with that the show was chosen as a point of inspiration for Anna Sui’s Target line. Now the New York Daily News is reporting that the association between the line and the show may get the axe because a key Target executive “got nervous about being that closely associated with the show, given the [debauchery] its characters get into.”

A party scene featuring Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick’s characters was set to shoot at Anna Sui’s flagship store in NYC’s SoHo, with models being used as extras wearing Anna Sui’s Target collection. Last minute, the store pulled out.

The crew is supposedly furious; the paper is reporting that “they can’t believe Target would bail on them, especially after publicly announcing the collaboration. It’s Target’s loss, because the line would have sold better if it had played a part in the show.”

However, interested parties can still pick up the capsule collection when it hits target.com and approximately 250 select stores across the United States on September 13th.

Wow, this is quite an interesting piece of news. A great opportunity to market and publicize the upcoming line on the show itself and yet Target bailed? I guess they're trying really hard to keep their image as a family store and thus, uphold family values? *shrugs* Who knows? I know personally that it doesn't change my perception or image of Target, that's for sure but what do you think? Feel free to chime in!

Anna Sui for Target to create Gossip Girl looks

I read back in early May that Anna Sui will be teaming up with Target to bring us a collection of outfits styled after the female characters in Gossip Girl. I chose not to blog about it back then as I wanted to wait out and see what the outfits would look like.

Well, the look book got leaked so the outfits are now available for preview. Among some of the outfits:

A total of 19 looks will be debuted and the collection will be available in 250 selected Target stores come September 13 to October 17. To view the complete collection in a slideshow, click here.

Upon seeing the entire collection, I have to say I like 3 out of the 5 outfits for Blair. I only like one of the dresses for Jenny, which is featured above, the short sleeveless black dress. As for Vanessa, I only like the sleeveless ruffle top because I am a sucker for ruffles! I have to say that I am pretty disappointed with the outfits for Serena. I guess I expected more of Serena's dresses to be in the collection but there's only one and that is the one and only piece I like.

I hope these will be in my local Target store so that I can check them out in person and see if its worth spending money on the quality of these items.
