Anna Sui for Target to create Gossip Girl looks
Well, the look book got leaked so the outfits are now available for preview. Among some of the outfits:
A total of 19 looks will be debuted and the collection will be available in 250 selected Target stores come September 13 to October 17. To view the complete collection in a slideshow, click here.
Upon seeing the entire collection, I have to say I like 3 out of the 5 outfits for Blair. I only like one of the dresses for Jenny, which is featured above, the short sleeveless black dress. As for Vanessa, I only like the sleeveless ruffle top because I am a sucker for ruffles! I have to say that I am pretty disappointed with the outfits for Serena. I guess I expected more of Serena's dresses to be in the collection but there's only one and that is the one and only piece I like.
I hope these will be in my local Target store so that I can check them out in person and see if its worth spending money on the quality of these items.

GAP's CFDA Khaki Collection
Some of the pics from the collection:
The collection is available in stores beginning June 19. I especially like the dress, the one without the exposed zipper so, maybe its time I check out the stores since I haven't been to GAP upon return to the US!

Back to School with Marc Jacobs
Scarves $48
*article taken from NY Mag*
I love the adorable Miss Marc t-shirts from this capsule collection! I think it is a great move by Marc Jacobs to reach out to a different segment of the population who adores his creations but can't quite stomach the high luxe price under his Collection label.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing these items in the store!

Celeb spotting: Mr. West
I definitely love the brooch/pin and would look forward to adding it to my collection. Now if only I know how much moolah I would have to cough up for that.
*edit update*
The Dimitri brooch/pin costs $190 and is sold out in the US. Great!

I am definitely loving the jackets be it tweed or leather and the dresses are just gorgeous! Marc just has the ability to make whimsical pieces and incorporate bright colors to his pieces. Love it!

Luxury is Here to Stay
These days, front and center in the dialogue on the recession and its effect on fashion is where high fashions fits into the picture. Will the economic downturn wipe out the luxury market for good, or merely sour its sales temporarily? According the findings of an Abrams Institute survey released yesterday on the subject, luxury fashion is here to stay. “A whopping 96% of respondents said that they thought the luxury goods market would endure the recession. 36.8% thought a ‘stronger, smaller core’ would make it, and 34.9% were confident that the aspirational noveau riche would keep business brisk. Only 4% thought that the recession had killed conspicuous consumption.” As for the quality that will most ensure luxury brands’ staying power: timelesness (which seems like somewhat circular logic).
Sadly, the art market didn’t fare so well in the eyes of the surveys’ participants: “Of six choices—Fine Art, Fine Wine, Couture Clothing, Designer Jewelry + Timepieces, Leather Goods and High-End Home Furnishings ... 31% of our experts think that Fine Art will be the first luxury to be cut from luxury budgets.” As far as online shopping is concerned, not surprisingly, Net-a-Porter and Gilt Groupe were voted the web’s premiere portholes. As for the brands with the most staying power: Topshop - 34.1%, Chanel - 28%, Louis Vuitton - 21.9%, Forever 21 - 13.4%, H&M - 13.4%, Marc Jacobs - 13.4%, Hermès - 7.3%, J. Crew - 6.1%. I found this final reading one of the most interesting from the survey. A street-smart sense about fashion that’s been brewing in mainstream consumers’ consciousness for some time—that of melding high fashion with low (a sartorial approach that has likewise garnered Michelle Obama plenty of praise) --- has reached a fever pitch, as is evidenced by survey takers citing H&M, Forever 21, and Marc Jacobs as having equal staying power. Luxury fashion may not be dying out just yet, but high street and discount retailers notorious for knocking off high fashion brands still reign as king.

I find this article rather interesting as Chanel & Marc Jacobs are clearly my favorite luxury brands while H&M and Forever 21 are my fix for trendy items. J. Crew is another brand I adore but the price tags keeps me from purchasing as even on sale their items are still pricey in my opinion. But I guess having the First Lady as your walking billboard helps to justify your atrocious prices? Oh well.. I shall stick to Banana Republic and Club Monaco for my classic needs.

Celeb spotting: Mr. Lagerfeld
I don't ever want to think of the day where he'll be resigning from his post at Chanel. It'll be big shoes to fill for the next person. For now, Karl just keep churning out those Chanel goodies!
